Institut de Recherche Saint-Louis

The Institut de Recherche Saint-Louis (IRSL – UMR 1342) was created in 2025 under the joint supervision of Université Paris Cité (UPC) and Inserm (merging four units into a single research centre). Some teams are also labelled by CNRS (EMR8000), the CEA, or the Collège de France.

Institut Cochin

The Institut Cochin is a biomedical research centre located in the heart of Paris, affiliated with Inserm, CNRS, and Université Paris Cité.

Located in the very centre of Paris, on the Cochin–Port-Royal Hospital site (AP-HP Centre), the Institute brings together more than 600 staff members, including researchers, clinicians, lecturer-researchers, engineers, technicians, and administrative personnel.

Institut Necker Enfants Malades

Institut Necker Enfants Malades

Founded in 2014 and located on the Necker Hospital campus, the Institut Necker Enfants Malades is an international biomedical research centre. Its mission is to advance scientific knowledge and translate it into concrete solutions to address current health challenges.

Ecole Polytechnique

Ecole Polytechnique

École Polytechnique has 23 research laboratories bringing together more than 1,600 staff members across disciplines as diverse as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, economics, mechanics, and the human sciences. These laboratories are shared with several national research organisations, foremost among which is CNRS, as well as INRIA and Inserm.

CEA (Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique)

CEA (Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique)

Established in 2017, CEA Paris-Saclay brings together nearly 7,000 staff members distributed across several sites located in the south and south-west of the Île-de-France region, near Paris. It constitutes a major hub for research, innovation, and technological development within the CEA.

ESPCI

ESPCI

Founded in 1882 in Paris, ESPCI Paris – PSL is a graduate engineering school that trains students through research in physics, chemistry, and biology. Each year, the School trains innovation engineers capable of addressing the scientific and technological challenges of tomorrow. Its history is marked by six Nobel Prizes and is supported by 570 faculty members and researchers distributed across 10 joint research units.

Le Collège de France

Founded in 1530 by François I under the name Collège royal, the Collège de France is a major public institution of higher education and research located in the heart of the Latin Quarter in Paris. The Collège de France develops its activities in close partnership with CNRS, Inserm, and numerous scientific and cultural institutions.

Hôpital Saint-Louis

Hôpital Saint-Louis

Located in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, Hôpital Saint-Louis is a hospital of the Assistance publique – Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP). Founded in 1605–1606 by Henry IV, it was named Saint Louis in tribute to Louis IX. It is a university hospital centre (CHU).

Its main specialties are dermatology, haematology, and oncology. The institution employs 2,500 staff members, including approximately 1,000 medical personnel.

Hôpital Cochin

Located in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, Hôpital Cochin is a hospital of the Assistance publique – Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP). Founded in 1780 by Jean-Denis Cochin, it is now a major university hospital centre. The Cochin hospital group comprises 1,483 beds and brings together 6,700 healthcare professionals, including more than 1,000 physicians.

Affiliated since the 1980s with the Institut Cochin, a biomedical research institute, the hospital is involved in research in genetics, molecular biology, and cell biology.

Located in Bobigny, Seine-Saint-Denis, Hôpital universitaire Avicenne is a hospital of the Assistance publique – Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP). Opened in 1935, it now fulfils a tripartite mission of care, research, and teaching within the Hôpitaux Universitaires Paris Seine-Saint-Denis. Hôpital Avicenne provides a comprehensive range of care, with recognised expertise in particular in oncology, hepatology, pulmonology, haematology, infectious diseases, and surgery. It comprises 1,097 beds and brings together more than 4,500 professionals dedicated to patient care.

Located in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, Hôpital Necker–Enfants Malades is a hospital of the Assistance publique – Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP). Founded in 1778, it is now a leading university hospital centre dedicated to the care of both adult and paediatric patients. The hospital has developed recognised expertise across numerous specialties, with a historically significant role in the management of rare diseases, paediatric conditions, and complex clinical situations. It combines care, teaching, and research activities within an academic environment.

Hôpital Robert-Debré

Located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, Hôpital universitaire Robert-Debré is a hospital of the Assistance publique – Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP). Inaugurated in 1988, it is now one of the major French university paediatric hospitals, specialising in the care of children, adolescents, and pregnant women. The hospital provides a comprehensive range of care across numerous paediatric, surgical, and medical-technical specialties, with recognised expertise in particular in rare diseases, neonatology, neurology, paediatric oncology, and paediatric surgery. It also carries out teaching and training activities in collaboration with the university.

The SIRIC InSiTu is an Integrated Cancer Research Site (SIRIC-labelled). The programme aims to strengthen integration between fundamental research, translational research, and clinical care, in order to promote the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in oncology.
