Department activities
The Adolescent and Young adult Unit (AYA) was created in 2010 after the transfer of the Pediatric Unit from St Louis Hospital to Robert Debre Hospital.
The Unit is dedicated to patients aged from 15 to 25 years old with malignant hemopathy (acute leukemia, lymphoma) or non-malignant (aplastic anemia and sickle cell disease).
The Unit propose various therapies including intensive chemotherapy, allogeneic bone marrow transplantation and autologous transplantation, and innovative therapies like CAR-T cells.
The Unit has 16 single room with 12 beds for intensive care and 4 beds dedicated to allogeneic bone marrow transplantation. Patients with acute leukemia, lymphoma and aplastic anemia are treated there. Therapy includes intensive chemotherapy, immunotherapy, CAR-T cells, bone marrow transplantation (autologous and allogeneic).
Allogeneic transplantation can be indicated for patients with malignant hemopathy, severe aplastic anemia or severe sickle cell disease.
The outpatient unit has room dedicated to AYA patients for treatment that can be done during the day, transfusions and the follow up of patients with allogeneic bone marrow transplantation.
Patients are welcome for an expert advice or the follow up of an already treated hemopathy.
AYAs in transition, coming from a pediatric Unit and treated when they were young for an hemopathy that needs a prolonged follow up can be seen there.

The paramedical team is coordinated by Celia Gounin and composed of 24 nurse, 12 auxiliary nurse and 2 specialized nurse (coordination nurse, Rachel Chamoux et Abdelatif Darrazi) who coordinate the path between city and hospital with ONCORIF and RIFHOP network.
A psychosocial support (Nora Naïditch et Laurie Leenknegt), educative support (École@l’Hôpital)) association and physical training (CAMI) is proposed since diagnosis.
Antoine Godeau, our animator, coordinate the activities supported by about 30 associations.
