Multidisciplinary team meetings

Twice a month — on the first and third Wednesdays — national multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTMs) are held via videoconference, attended by two adult clinical specialists, two to three pediatric clinicians, and at least one expert hematology biologist.

Participants include clinical and laboratory hematologists, pediatricians, geneticists, genetic counselors, psychologists, and nurse practitioners — occasionally joined by oncologists.

The cases discussed may involve:

  • Genetic testing indications for a patient or family (using dedicated gene panels or within the framework of a pre-indication under the French Genomic Medicine Plan).

  • Determining the pathogenicity of identified genetic variants.

  • Devising follow-up and prevention recommendations for patients and relatives carrying a genetic predisposition.

These multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTMs), held via videoconference and on demand, are open to external participants and are attended by hematologists, obstetricians, pharmacologists, and anesthesiologists to discuss the management of patients diagnosed with a blood cancer during pregnancy.

These meetings bring together specialists in acute leukemia and allogeneic transplantation, as well as the transplantation coordination team, to optimize the transplantation plan. Discussions cover the transplant’s indication and execution (transplant date, donor type, and pre-transplant treatment protocols).

 

National bi-monthly videoconference meetings are attended by adult and pediatric clinicians, hematology biologists, and geneticists to discuss cases of patients with acquired or congenital bone marrow failure and paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria for whom the reference center is consulted regarding treatment. A written opinion is provided to the requesting physician.
