Who are we?

Who are we?

The Leukemia Institute is a University Hospital Institute founded in 2023 by the Assistance Publique–Hôpitaux de Paris, INSERM, the Collège de France, and Paris Cité University, and is funded by the Paris Cité University Foundation (FUPC). It represents an unprecedented collaboration that brings together clinical and scientific expertise to reach a shared goal: transforming the care of patients with acute leukemia and related diseases.

The Institute’s integrated structure houses the research teams and clinical departments to foster synergies and help turn scientific discoveries into medical advances for patients.

The Institute aims to become a world-leading leukemia center, building on its scientific and medical excellence, strategic partnerships, and innovative training programs.

University Hospital Institutes (IHU) aim to promote translational research, i.e. research that is rapidly transformed into solutions for patient.

They bring together clinical, scientific, and technological expertise in a specific field to fast-track advances in care and innovation.
Since 2010, 19 IHUs have been created in France.

The Leukemia Institute was designated as an IHU under France’s 2030 national investment plan and received €30 million in funding.

The Institute was created in 2023 as part of France’s 2030 national investment program.
It was selected as being an ambitious scientific project with recognized expertise in hematology.
